Yes, It's All About Forgiveness

Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.

As a truly great soul is laid to rest today (well actually, memorialized), I couldn’t help but think about the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts and minds of those he touched. By making a conscious and deliberate choice to back away from the precipice of hatred and revenge, Nelson Mandela freed himself from what would have surely been emotional quicksand. He freed his nation to look at the issues of justice and forgiveness with new eyes and inspired them by example to courageously step into a shared future. A future built on forgiveness rather than retribution.

His approach to building a new nation reminded us all of the powerful freedom each one of us has: the freedom to do what is right and loving even when the evidence beckons us to do otherwise.

Today I am asking myself: is there someone I am resenting? Am I withholding forgiveness? Today, I am praying for them to be blessed. Abundantly.

Honestly, I feel a lightness of being already.

May you find your lightness today.
